London grime producer Levlz has announced his long-awaited debut EP ‘Crud’ on Crown Jules, set for release on November 27th. Chosen for J Beatz’s independent label, the EP sits alongside an impressive variety of genres, from hip-hop and bass to grime, with a dark, bassy feel running through the collection.
Over the past eight months, ‘Crud’ has been doing the rounds at Mode FM, Rinse FM and Radar Radio, picking up regular plays and proving to be a favourite among both DJs and MCs. This four track debut from up and coming producer Levlz shows off his versatile production skills, mixing traditional grime rhythms with a modern, heavy-hitting sound which he’s already stamped out as his own.
In addition to plays across radio, the title track ‘Crud’ has been vocalled by Row D, whose monster 19-track ‘White Rhino’ mixtape Levlz exclusively produced. More recently, the second track ‘Crud Remix’ was the beat chosen by grime heavyweight Blacks to close his freshly-released album ‘Sick Individual 3’. This EP is not just a one track pony, with the final two tracks ‘GTA V’ and ‘Riff Raff’ polishing off an exceptional debut. ‘GTA 5’ is an unforgiving, heavyweight track, whilst the final number, ‘Riff Raff’, has an atmospheric dubstep flair to it, bringing the instrumentals to a brutal conclusion.
This powerful EP full of bouncing, hard-hitting tracks proves Levlz is destined to become a respected name in the scene, both as an innovative collaborator for MCs and as a talented producer in his own right.
