about

J Beatz is carving his own sound when it comes to Grime and Ambient music with his first release of 2016, Ambience. His production combines these two genres of music to
produce a sound the producer himself would describe as 'flight mode”. A sound which can be anything from Hip Hop, Grime or R&B but has an ambient and trippy vibe to it.

The first track Ambience uses some syrupy, spaced out and sexy keys to set the mood along with some hollow grime bass for contrast. Warm and low energies sounds are
created and carried on to the beautiful Lay Down 2.0. A slow-moving, dreamy and soft cut which displays some surprising vocals to continue with the EP’s simplistic touch.

Moving mid way into Stevie with an ominous intro that builds steadily as more beats are added to the mix to create an orchestral sound. Expect crisp keys and cool, wistful melodies with this one.

Carrying on with the coolness, Equilibrium provides a West Coast feel to the EP with its tight percussion and buzzy synths. This track is cool but rich, though never overworked
and flows into the last track of the EP nicely. The Finale is an emotional outro which again uses some orchestral sounds, this time with the use of some deep bass. If you could ever hear what The Last Supper sounded like, this would be it.
